[News] Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and MacSpeech Products

by MacSpeech, Inc.

We're very excited about the release of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and we are thoroughly testing MacSpeech Dictate 1.5, MacSpeech Dictate Legal and MacSpeech Dictate Medical for compatibility. This includes internal testing, as well as working with a set of users to test products with the shipping version of Apple's new operating system release.

The technical development which goes into building a speech recognition product on the Mac is more complex than for your average desktop application. Based on what we saw with pre-release versions of Snow Leopard, there aren't any show-stoppers or nasty crashing issues to resolve. However, there are several minor functional and cosmetic issues we want to address with a compatibility update.

We expect Snow Leopard-compatible updates for MacSpeech Dictate 1.5, MacSpeech Dictate Medical, and MacSpeech Dictate Legal to be ready shortly. We do not expect to update prior shipping versions, including MacSpeech Dictate 1.3, to run on Snow Leopard. When Snow Leopard-compatible updates are available for MacSpeech Dictate 1.5, MacSpeech Dictate Medical, and MacSpeech Dictate Legal, we will announce those updates and make them available through our regular update programs.
