I currently use MSD Medical, but will eventually have to make the move to Lion and therefore DD. Anyone know if Nuance might be working on a DD Medical version for Mac? I currently have DD 2.51, but it has been an exercise in frustration trying to train medical terminology. I spent over 30 minutes trying to get DD to transcribe "C7-T1" correctly, but to little avail.

After working fine for months, suddenly any sequence of numerals gets spaces between most but not all the numbers whether in dictation mode or numbers mode. For example, dictated 1234567806 becomes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 806 no matter how I try to vary the dictation.

If I say “nine out of ten", Dictate writes 9/10. Specifically, it writes “nine out of" but then when I say ten it goes back and replaces with 9/10. Sometimes that would be helpful, but sometimes I actually want it to write exactly what I say. 9/10 is not necessarily an acceptable substitute for “nine out of ten". It does not even give me an option in the recognition window to go back to the full words.

I am pretty sure this is Dictate, because it happens in Word and Mail, but not when I type the words.

Another example is “cost plus 10%". It writes “cost plus", but when I say 10% it goes back and changes to cost +10%.

Is there some way I can override this auto substitution?

My present microphone is a C-media USB audio, which for the most part has been working well, but I have noted that when I turn my head a bit, it doesn't pick up what I am saying; for logistical reasons, I prefer not to go with a head phone/ear blood blue tooth device, so I just purchased the TableMike 6-1. (thinking that with a larger pickup range, this might not be as much of a concern). The initial training session with the TableMike 6-1 goes well for the first third or so, then the recognition stops, and I have to click the microphone icon to get it going again (I.e. get the words to turn green again); I have tried this a number of times, I'm quite sure it's not me mumbling; typically after doing this 3 times during the training session, it seems to be good to go / IE a profile is made. When I start dictating at that point, it seems to do well for the first few sentence or so, then slows down, particularly if I'm dictating a relatively long sentence. Is this some sort of a memory issue; of note, I have a Mac OSx 10.7.3; 2.66GHZ Intel core 2 Duo; 4 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3. I have MacSpeech Dictate medical ( 1.5.10.) Thanks!

Dear Folks,

Just had DD v2.5 Mac crash on me. In the process, it seems to have trashed one of its support files, because now I can't launch with my user profile; DD aborts every time I try.

Obvious solution- Use Time Machine to revert to a previous state for the app. Problem: I don't know all the files to replace. Tried replacing the Dragon Dictate app and the entire contents of this folder: ../Library/Application Support/Dragon

Still won't launch, so obviously I have missed some files somewhere. What other places does DD stash supporting files?

In case it matters, I'm running under Mac OSX 10.6.8.

Thanks!

So this is maybe something for hands-free browsing in Safari! I use gleebox for it and I created a new global command in Dragon Dictate: „box“ (Option g). That opens a field for writing and I dictate any link on any site in Safari and then it is highlighted. Simply by saying press enter ( or whatever is the English command for it) the link is opened! It's really great! And so far, it works fine. I use DragonDictate 2.5.2 and the Lion-version 10.7.3 on an iMac
and of course it should be able to use all the commands that gleebox offers!
and excuse my English please, I write this with an English profile from Mike Sherman Dragon Dictate, that should mean my German Dragon Dictate:-)))

When I am dictating, the program suddenly starts reading the text back to me in a strange voice. At that point, dictation suddenly becomes unreliable. Restarting the program solves the problem. is any fix for this?

At other times, the last part of a sentence I have dictated is transposed to an earlier part. Restarting solves the problem.

Both of these happen more than once a day so it is quite a nuisance.

I just figured out today using the Console process log that Dragon Express was the app that prohibited other menu bar apps from remaining open when I needed to use the. For example, when I tried to activate the Alfred launch window, it would instantly deactivate. But after I quit Dragon Express, the problem stopped. So looks I can't launch and use DE without it causing problems for other applications.

When I put the dongle in my Macbook usb slot it would not recognize the Voyage but instead switched itself to the BT300 which actually worked for some odd reason. I decided to see if it would recognize the Voyager by taking out the dongle. NO! Even with the dongle in place Dragon Dictate says I have no microphone. Under PROFILES the Voyager does not show up at all. When for those few short hours it was working the Voyager worked very well. I also trying reinstalling Dragon Dictate with no luck. Please help!

If you haven't noticed, almost all users are complaining about the DD's seemingly random movement of the cursor. At least as regards my own usage, I have figured out why this occurs and believe it could be remedied.

The problem is that DD often thinks you've spoken a command like "Cut" and moves the cursor "accordingly." Say you dictate the text "up in the room." Since "Cut" is such a darn short command (and thus easily confusable with other short utterances such as "up"), DD thinks you said "CUT in" and "the room." DD then looks for the word "in" in the preceding text, deletes the word "in" and inserts "the room." It took me a long time to figure out why DD was exhibiting this seemingly random behavior. Watching the text in the Recognition Window finally clarified the problem. Until a minute ago, I was not aware of a way to deactivate the editing commands in DD. Nonetheless, deactivating the editing commands might not be the preferred modus operandi for all users.

My proposal:

Add a user preference that allows users to configure a command word. DD would then only execute a command if the command follows the command word. Given a sufficiently distinctive command word, this would reduce the occurrence of misunderstandings significantly. I, for myself, would far prefer having to speak an occasional command word than frequently having to "recoup" the cursor (and, in many cases, lost text).

Quitting Dragon Express immediately fixes this problem. Restarting DE immediately causes the problem to return. Restarting the computer has no effect.

I recently updated DD for mac to version 2.5.2. Upon using it for a minute or so with Filemaker Pro 11 and Firefox, DD crashed. So I launched it again and it immediately crashed. I thought this latest update was supposed to fix Filemaker Pro issues. It hasn't.

While this produce has potential...maybe...right now it's very limited. Disappointing once again. DD isn't a professional product yet. I would avoid it until it actually works.

MacSpeech Dictate consistently transcribes numerical words such as "one" or "first", as "1" or "1st", when I want it to write out the words. It's a pain to switch to spelling mode to correct this every time. Is there a setting to allow numbers to be transcribed as words? Or is there a way to train Dictate to do this?

Olympus was kind enough to let us preview their new flagship digital recorder with their new Dictation Module Ver. 6 application. We have been using the DS-7000 to conduct numerous transcription tests over the last couple of weeks but as of today, our NDA has been lifted and we can publish our findings.

Choosing the right digital recorder for use with NaturallySpeaking, Dragon Medical and DragonDictate isn't easy because you have hundreds to choose from. If transcribing digital recordings is important to your workflow, you require HIPPA compliant encrypted recordings, you need the highest possible transcription accuracy, highest possible transfer rate, cue/review, double speed playback (without the Mickey Mouse effect), prefer main recorder functions to be located under a convenient slider control, seamless glitchless punch in (no audible click), you really only have 3 choices.

I have recently read the following article from MacWorld and I've been trying to get a hold of one of the SpeechWare 3-in-1 microphones. Does anyone know of a supplier in the UK that has them available?
