Is it possible to train/correct one word only?

I am using MacSpeech dictate V1.5 on a new Mac book pro.
At this stage I'm confining my use to the Notepad, and TextEdit.

Sometimes I just want to correct/train one or two words only - I say "Train the word <word>", but then an entire phrase appears in the recognition window. is this normal? Is there a way of limiting what appears in the recognition window to just those words I want to correct and not the entire phrase?
    Thanks Louisa

LuisaK, try saying a number of phrases that contain the word you want Dictate to learn. I have had much better success getting Dictate to understand particular words using that method rather than trying to teach it individual words. Dictate seems to learn words more successfully when they are used in context.

Be sure to make any spelling corrections in the recognition window.

Alternatively, try Vocabulary Editor under the Tools menu, add the word (click +) if it doesn't already exist or select the problem word from the word list then click the gear icon and select “Train".

    Thanks for your posting Blair.
My question really relates to 'training' (as in correcting recognition errors), as I dictate in a document, and doing this as efficiently as possible. Sometimes I will be training/correcting my last phrase, but not always.

I understand that it's a good idea to train/correct in context but for the sake of efficiency I would sometimes like to correct just one or two words and not a whole phrase. Is this possible with MacSpeech Dictate using the "train the word <word>" command?
I find it is inefficient and cumbersome to have a whole phrase appear in the recognition window when I just want a word or two.

I see the benefit of adding words and phrases to the vocabulary and I do that as well, however the task I am asking about is training/correcting words while dictating in document, to serve the two purposes of correcting the text in the document, and improving recognition over time.

You can edit any phrase in the Recognition Window. Either say "Edit 2" (or the appropriate numbered entry) or click on an entry. Then say "Select The Word <word>" and dictate or spell the corrected word, or double click on the word and type it in. Then say "Choose 2".

Dictate recognizes your speech in phrases, recognizing words in the context of each other. This allows you to speak in phrases, or even full sentences, rather than word-by-word. And when you perform training on an entire phrase, it will gather the context information about all of the words in a phrase, even if you only edit a single word. Even so, I can pass your request for word-by-word training to our product development team. If you'd like to add more detail, please feel free to use the Feature Requests section of these Forums.

btw, Dragon Dictate for Mac (2.0) allows you to say "Train <word(s)>" or "Train That" (for the last utterance), although the Recognition Window behaves the same as v1.5.

Thank you for that information. I have another question about correcting recognition errors.
After saying eg “Edit 2", then selecting the wrong word/s, if I want to spell, is it necessary to say “spelling mode”? I haven't worked out a way to spell in the Recognition window except by saying "spelling mode".
