    Hi everyone:

In Mac Mail when I do a “shift tab” on my keyboard, the cursor moves to the previous field. If I am in the main body of my e-mail message, and I do a shift tab the cursor moves to the subject line.

However, when I speak the command “press the key combo shift tab", Dictate ignores the shift part and simply does a tab. What's up with that? Any suggestions?

Just curious, have you tried the previous field global command? Does it work any better? I'm thinking this is a timing issue. I'm guessing the keyboard sequence is happening so fast mail is not recognizing it.

I wish I knew how to fix this because I'm having a similar issue when trying to tab through the new command fields. When I use my tab right AppleScript, or the next field global command, in the new command name field instead of moving to the next field it types a tab character. This is extremely annoying because I'm using the computer hands-free and because this does not work as it should I have to use mousegrid to move to the next field. I shouldn't have to do this. Creating a new command by voice should be just as easy if not easier than doing it by hand.

@ freedomcoach.... When using DD in applications with fields like mail and excel, best to use "next field" or "previous field" because the command is actually two commands in one: "tab key" and "purge cache"; otherwise you can end up including unwanted material from the previous field.

Also, you do not need to use the word "combo" in most cases but you do have to speak the entire command fluidly. Even so, your attempted command works fine for me: "press the key combo shift tab"

@Cactustweeter ...The command "tab key" seems to navigate fairly well in Commands Window.
But, other commands, like next field appear to be interpreted as text.

    abledoc,

It seems the “tab issue” in the Command Browser has been cleared up with the release of version 2.0.2 of Dragon Dictate. My tab right and tab left AppleScript commands behave correctly now.
