    Hi

I just bought Macspeech Dictate Medical and looking at the website, it appeared that it would work with Lion OSX.

Unfortunately on startup it comes up with a message that it won't run on Lion. Thus - won't run, can't register, can't update!!

Can anyone advise if there is a version or update that runs and how I can download it as I can't update through an application that does not run! A real catch-22.

    Thanks

    Andrew

Nuance currently recommends privately that you revert to Snow Leopard to run Dictate. Some users are doing well with Lion and DD 2.5. Others are having great difficulty. Do you feel lucky?

Secondly, I think there are very few medical professionals who need to use MSD Medical. Most Providers use less than 100 words consistently that are not in the standard dictionary. That vocabulary can easily be added using vocabulary training of your previous dictations. If less than 30 days return MSD or insist on the return because of the incompatibility. Switch back to Snow Leopard and get DD2.0 from Amazon for as low as $99 and it will upgrade automatically to 2.5 after loading.

If you need help, I'll show you how.

I just bought three new generation MacBook Airs (two 11" and one 13") with the faster processors. I tried to revert to OS 10.6 based on what i read here and elsewhere, so I could use Macspeech Medical with the 1.5 engine. I could not load Snow Leopard due to the processor scheme. BUT!!! I was pleasantly surprised that when I loaded Macspeech Medical on the new MacBook Airs, the program works flawlessly. I do not use voice commands all that much, just voice to text dictation for my EMR. We work in a Citrix environment and the program works fabulously on the new machines. My doctors love it.

I must agree they have no customer service, it is the worst I have ever encountered, nonexistent. That being said, I am happy about the usefulness of the program.

Those having problems, you may want to invest in a new laptop as the performance is much faster than the older generation. Just a thought. You know your time is worth something as is all the frustration. Good luck.

I think several of the foregoing can be used to answer my question. I dictate primarily from my desktop, an iMac about three years old and using OS 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard). I bought MacSpeech Dictate and am running 1.5.9. I do have a MacAir at home, the machine just before the newest. Seems to leave me with two choices since the present set up is less than satisfactory. (1) Trash MacSpeech Medical and purchase Dragon Dictate for Mac, which sounds like it works well with WORD 2011, my default word processor. It does not sound like Lion works well with any set-up to date, true or false?

From gb1's comments, it sounds like I can successfully use my MacAir at home as along as I don't use Lion. BTY, once Lion is installed, can you tell the machine to revert to Snow Leopard so MacSpeech Dictate or Drag Dic for Mac work well? Thank for your help. Bob

I cant answer all the questions but I can report that DD 2.5 has a very extensive medical vocabulary . I've dictated all my notes and I've only added 1 word. To give you an idea of how impressive the vocabulary is my last note contained "GnRH agonist "and "Levonorgestrel IUD". DD transcribed thes without correction and the capitalization was correct.

However it crashes all the time and there is some strange "missing letter" bug that is driving me crazy.

I have recently been sent an Dictate Medical update 1.5.10 ( Build 12123)which is said to be OK with Lion. When I first opened it it said it would not work with Lion but worked well after use of Check for Updates.

It seems to be working well to date.

After I upgraded to Lion on my iMac, Dragon dictation has been terrible with multiple errors and lack of functionality, Nuance service advised me to upgrade to Mac speech dictation, the looking at the thread of these posts, it looks like this does not also work with Lion although sales says it does, can anyone confirm the compatibility,
one option I hope I can do is go back to Snow Leopard

Nuance needs to upgrade the Medical version to 2.5. I am not sure why it is taking so long. They should provide users regarding timeframes as the 1.5 version is terribly buggy and feature deficient.
