Now that Dragon Express allows for use of the built in mic, can I use my MacBook Pro's built in mic (2010)? If not, why?

We haven't tested this yet but we’re fairly certain that your integrated microphone will work. However, you have to ask yourself how valuable your time is. We can all but promise that your accuracy will be dismal. That's why we are in the speech recognition/microphone business. If built-in microphones actually worked (meaning that you could appreciate 99% accuracy rather than about 92%) we wouldn't need to sell microphones. To put it another way, using an integrated microphone with Dragon Express is equivalent “putting bicycle tires on a racecar” (quoting Chuck Runquist from the KnowBrainer Speech Recognition Forums ~ http://www.knowbrainer.com/PubForum/).

We recommend trying your integrated microphone before doing anything so at the very least, you could appreciate something better. If you find your integrated microphone to be too frustrating, you might want to check out our Microphone Comparison Matrix ~ http://www.knowbrainer.com/core/pages/miccompare.cfm? where you can view our latest microphone test results which compare pricing, accuracy, noise cancellation, features and even comfort.
