I'm having an issue where when I start speaking after a reasonable time away from the microphone that MSD is not responding at all. It's not in sleep mode and no text appears beneath the little floating black panel when I speak. I have to speak the same phrase three or four times before it responds, which is really frustrating.

Also quite often when I start to speak a new sentence after a significant pause, it misses the first word entirely. Is anyone else having this issue?

    Got the latest version etc.

Just time IA's 20 seconds (that should say "I've just timed the delay and its 20 seconds") before anything appears on the screen, and then it's what I said 10 seconds previously - as I keep talking until something appears. That's a lot of time of nothing happening. Note in my first line that the word 'I've' is missing, which is also typical of this issue.

    Hey Bob,

Did you change the recognition slider in Dictate's preferences?

Go to the Dictate menu, click Prefs and look for the recognition slider at the bottom.. where it says Faster on one end and More Accurate on the other. There will be a number at the very bottom. Is it 30?

I've changed it to a higher setting on my work machine but its unchanged on the laptop I use when I'm out of the office. Its really frustrating talking and having nothing show. I could say something four times and finally it will only recognise the fourth saying. It -always- happens after a break as though its fallen asleep. But then if I'm using it for a long doc, all of a sudden it will miss the first two words of a sentence, just at random.
