Deleting words from user vocabulary

I cannot delete words from my user vocabulary.

Several times I have accessed the vocabulary editor, selected a word or words to delete, (apparently) successfully deleted them only to discover that they reappear the next time the vocabulary editor is opened.

    Does anybody have a solution?

Words that are built into the vocabulary cannot be deleted. Only words that you have manually added can be deleted.

It is some of the words I have added manually that I wish to remove. When I delete them, they reappear next time the vocabulary editor is opened.

I would appreciate any advice on how to manually add words. Thank you. I get no help from the vocabulary training. I select it - add my documet - click the right arrow and it pops up saying all words are recognized-in the vocab when I know they aren't!

Also, how do you "include or exclude words?

I'd like to see this actually work, as well. After adding 30 or so words/phrases in the vocab editor, it just wants to crash, now. I thought I read about some kind of repair to institute that fixed crashes that resulted from an upgrade, rather than starting of a new profile, but can't find it now... any help out there? Also, if tech support is reading this, would it be quicker to just write to you with a list of my problems and wait for a response, or do you monitor the forums often enough to respond in a timely fashion that would benefit all users? In some forums, you can't actually expect a response from tech support, but I don't know how you would like to conduct your support.

@newby - You can add individual words through "Vocabulary Editor". You can type in their phonetic pronunciation, or train them by voice. Look in the Vocabulary Editor to see whether words are in the vocabulary or not. The Vocabulary Editor is covered on pages 118-121 in the User Manual. When you use Vocabulary Training, it will list two columns: one for "Include" and one for "Exclude". This is covered on pages 124-126 in the User Manual.

@dwspokane - Maybe it was about deleting the plist and/or reinstalling? Although Tech Support monitors these Forums, they do not read all postings nor are they able to respond to everything. Tech Support is also available by phone (via our US office), which can be efficient for troubleshooting. Troubleshooting is often configuration-specific. So, whether you contact Tech Support or post an issue in Forums it's helpful to everyone to include info on your specific configuration and activity.

Jayg, can you please tell me if words added by the user then subsequently deleted, only to reappear in the vocabulary editor, is a known bug issue?

Has anybody else had problems with the vocabulary editor, particularly when deleting words the user has added earlier?

    Blair,

I just tried adding and deleting a number of unusual words and the app acted as expected. Can you give us more data? Is it 100% repeatable? Does it work with some words and not with others?

Hi Jackson, some of the words I added (via the recognition window) are place names. One or two other words have misspellings. I deleted them and the process appeared to work as expected - they no longer appeared in the user list. The trouble is, next time I run Dictate (usually next day) and I enter the Vocabulary Editor, the particular names/words I deleted earlier, reappear.

The process I have followed is this -
I opened the Vocabulary Editor, select the word (or words) I wish to delete then use the small gear symbol at the bottom of the editor window and choose delete. As expected, the relevant words are removed. If I close the Vocabulary Editor and reopen it later on, the words are still gone.

It is only when I restart Dictate the following day that I have discovered the words reappear in the list.

I have been careful to follow the user guide and cannot see how or why this anomaly occurs. Everything else about Dictate appears to work as expected and I'm very happy with it. It's just this problem deleting some words via the Vocabulary Editor I can't get sorted out.
