I see that Dictate is now comaptible with the Plantronics Calsito bluetooth headset.

Since when did Dictate become compatible with bluetooth headsets.

It has always been stated that it is not compatible with bluetooth headsets.

I haven't seen any announcement anywhere?

I just discovered this also, after somebody mentioned in this forum that the 1.5.5 update will allow Bluetooth headsets. I read the 1.5.5 release notes specifically looking for this feature. I thought that it wasn't there because it wasn't mentioned.

After I read that today in the forum I had to wait until a few minutes ago to try it because I haven't even bothered to carry my expensive new Bluetooth headset in my bag with me since it was such a pain in the neck to use with MacSpeech.

Thank you, MacSpeech, for allowing me to make my own choices. I'm not sure if this will get me back into using MacSpeech but it might. Thanks.

Direct connections over Bluetooth are not supported. MacSpeech Technical Support does not test, troubleshoot or support this type of audio input. In the case where a direct Bluetooth connection was tested (Calisto headset without the USB Adapter), the audio input did not provide sufficient quality for accurate speech recognition.

But when did MacSpeech Dictate become compatible with the Plantronics Calisto bluetooth headset with Plantronics bluetooth adapter?

It has always been stated that it is not compatible with bluetooth headsets period.

I haven't seen any announcement anywhere?

The Calisto has been available for quite some time now.

Wast possible to use this headset and adapter with MacSpeech Dictate from an earlier version or just with version 1.5?

It's still not compatible with "bluetooth devices" really, the Calisto comes with a USB bluetooth adapter which is required for it to work in Dictate. It only works with version 1.5.5 or later

    I see what you're saying.

So, to clarify: It's not the headset itself, but a connection directly over Bluetooth that is not supported.

I just don't understand this "bluetooth not supported" claptrap. If i use Dictate with my plantronics 590 bluetooth headset, connected directly -- i.e. via my Mac Pro's internal bluetooth -- it works equally as good as the Calisto/bluetooth dongle connection. Actually it works better, since I don't get that AWFUL crackle via the calisto earpiece. I don't know why I got suckered into buying the Calisto.

Anyway, now they have been purchased by Nuance, all this silliness will go away.

Chrisd. I agree with you 100%. I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro b/t with the BUA-100 dongle. From what I have read here on this group, it appears to me that it is only a giant money making scheme saying that only the Calisto is the only b/t mic compatible with MSD. I have no problems whatsoever with the Voyager pro.

Let's hope that now that Nuance have purchased MSD things are going to change.
