Incorrect cursor position with word

I have a problem when dictating into Word 2008. Dictate had been working perfectly but have not used it for a while. Now when I dictate into Word the cursor is situated in front of the last character in the correctly typed word. It does not do this if dictating into Note Pad.
Does any body know how to get over this problem. I've quit Dictate and re started without improvement.
